Marie & Matt’s Engagement Session at Almond Beach, Barbados

As soon as I arrived at Almond Beach Resort in Barbados, I was soo excited because it was time to photograph Marie & Matt’s sunset engagement session on the beach! I took one look at the beach and was automatically so inspired. I had them snuggling up to each other, frolicking in the water, and they even suggested going on paddle boards together! How adventurous. Loved it! 🙂 In 2 days, these two were going to be getting married outdoors on the beach and I loved being able to photograph one of their last days as an engaged couple! For these two, everything is better when they are together.

Marie & Matt are photographers as well (MM Fotografie), and I felt so special that they chose ME to photograph their love in Barbados! They also made me feel so welcome to hang out with their friends and family while I was there and I got to meet some amazing people!

This was the spot they would usually end up hanging out each night, so I love the sentimentality behind these photos!Look at that love…wow

They have matching tattoos of their dog’s name 🙂

It was so hilarious watching them try to balance on the board together for this one shot! They did it though! I love that they just kept on trying and trying and didn’t give up 🙂

How Life should be Lived Everyday! =)

This video and song literally gives me chills and makes me feel so happy! It definitely helps how they decided to film it because it seems as though the whole video is viewed from your perspective! Super cool!

I believe that everyone can live this lifestyle if they want. It’s just a matter of choosing experiences over possessions, or having a lot of money, but either way it’s possible!

I’m striving for a lifestyle full of feeling free and exploring the world. 🙂 It’s definitely starting for me!

In a couple of weeks I’m road tripping with my friend Agnes to Colorado for a week and a half! We have figured out a way to barter our photography services for a place to stay overnight and food with a couple different people/families we’ve never met before! This saves us sooo much money on food and accommodations and we get to connect with locals! 🙂 We plan to hike A LOT, ride bikes through trails and mountains, camp, meet new people, go out on the town and party and just mainly go with the flow and see what life has to offer 🙂

THEN, in August I’m literally home for 5 days because I’m travelling so much! Yay! In the first week of August I’m photographing a destination wedding in Almond Beach, Barbados which I’m super excited for since I’ve never been there before! 🙂 I’m going down for 4 days and 3 nights.

August 12th I leave for Switzerland, Germany and Poland with my boyfriend Mike for 3 weeks!! We originally were going to only go to Poland to visit family, but we’ve never really traveled (off the beaten path) together before (other than 1 all inclusive vacay) so we thought we should definitely explore Europe some more together while we are there! I’m suppperr excited! We booked our own apartment in the centre of Zurich, Switzerland for 4 days and it’s only 12 minutes away fro the airport. What’s even better is that it only cost us $168 to book it on Airbnb!! And we have the WHOLE apartment to ourselves. So sweet 🙂

Kaitlyn + Vince’s Destination Wedding in Cuba!

Another destination wedding on the blog! Yay! Love these 🙂 I especially love Kaitlyn, Vince and their family and friends for welcoming me with open arms and just being so real and laid back! My kind of people! I’ve already posted Kaitlyn and Vince’s engagement session on the strip in Varadero, Cuba and you can see it HERE!

On a gorgeous sunny day in Varadero Cuba on May 5th (Cinco de Mayo!!), Kaitlyn and Vince said their I DO’s at Iberostar Laguna Azul resort on a balcony overlooking the resort and ocean! The day was filled with love and support and it was amazing to be around that energy! A special thanks to my best friend Agnes Wywrot for second shooting for me and accompanying me on this trip! Kaitlyn & Vince’s Destination Engagement Session in Cuba!

WOW. What can I say..I am honestly overwhelmed with gratitude and this warm fuzzy feeling inside my heart that my dream is my reality! This was the first destination engagement session I’ve done and I was in love with every second of it! Me, Agnes (best friend and best assistant EVER), Kaitlyn and Vince took an awesome cuban taxi to the main strip in Varadero, Cuba just 15 miuntes away from Iberostar Laguna Azul where we stayed. What better way to do an engagement session than to just explore another country and take advantage of the culture, colors, textures, and golden rays of light it has to offer!? Kaitlyn and Vince did great! I told them to treat the session as if it’s just a date they are on, and if I need something from them, I’ll let them know. They did not hold back, and that’s why the pictures turned out the way they did. Epic 🙂

Their session was also featured in Beach Bride!

This place had THE BEST Pina Colada I’ve ever tasted!!

Live free! Do what YOU want =)

This piece by Anice Jewellery represents my journey of following my heart and deciding to make my dream into a reality, which is having my own photography business as my career and being able to travel the world because of it as well! It’s definitely a lot harder than I thought to start your own business, but it’s soooooooooooooooooo worth all the time, energy and money I invested! I’m so grateful 🙂

 

When Anice created this she was inspired by one of those hanging bridges in the jungle. Each step you see on the piece is a different part of my journey in my life and growing my business. The words on each step starting from the beginning are: Journey ~ Dream ~ Chance ~ Risk ~ Brave ~ Future ~ Obstacle ~ Try ~ Overcome ~ Dare ~ Wild ~ Free! 🙂

 

That last word is so fitting because my ultimate goal is to feel free in life and do what I want whenever I want, as much as possible of course. I know that all changes with kids! – lol. I like setting my own schedule and not feeling stuck in a job. I could not picture having a 9-5, not being able to make my own choices, having a set routine, only having 3 weeks vacay in 1 year, hating Mondays, saying TGIF…But that’s just me personally. What about you? Do you like that lifestyle? Having a routine and looking forward to weekends? Or would you prefer to be more free?

The way you live each day is the way you live your life!

I want to be happy every day whether I’m working or not! If you are reading this and are saying to yourself…man, i want that too!!, then do it! Start the journey to do what you love. Chase your dreams. The money will follow trust me! Passion is contagious, and people will love supporting a happy and passionate person. If you go after what you love, that’s what you’ll be, happy and so will everyone else around you!

Take Anice for example. She does what she loves, owns her own boutique in Kensington Market, creates pieces SHE loves and that speak to HER. Because she is true to herself, she creates really unique jewellery and people are drawn and connected to it, just have to have it. It’s a beautiful thing 🙂 She created this piece a while before I ever came into her shop. It was just sitting there waiting for the perfect person to connect to it. Then one day I came in and i felt like it represented my journey perfectly! I literally felt emotional towards it – lol.

Sarunia Photography – Video Premiere!

I am thrilled to premiere this video for you today! I have dreamed about showing you all a peak behind the scenes of what it’s like to have a session with me and get a feel for the experience. Kristen Sarah of Hopscotch the Globe was the talent behind this project. I had such a blast (and umm, a few shy moments) filming with her! I’m not used to being in front of a camera and speaking into a deep black hole, but Kristen assured me that it helps if I think of it as talking to my best friend. I tried, I really did, but I ended up just talking to Kristen interview style. That definitely calmed my stutters  You can also find this video on the homepage of my website now! Enjoy 🙂
